DPS outplay South Point for title

GUWAHATI, May 22 � Delhi Public School (DPS) lifted the Nabin Chandra Tamuly Trophy clinching title in the inter school cricket championship.

In the title clash of the tournament, organised by the Guwahati Cricket Coaching Centre at the Nehru Stadium here today, DPS earned a facile 92-run victory against South Point School.

Riding on a 109-ball 146 not out by Nidershan Kalita, DPS piled up a commendable total of 224 for two in the allotted 35 overs. Hrishikesh Tamuly was the other notable contributor with unbeaten 38.

Chasing the big target, South Point School was never in a comfortable position from the initial stage and finally all the batsmen were out for 133 in 30.5 overs. Abhinash Terang (37), Indranil Mukherjee (29) were the only notable contributors for South Point.

Abhinav Buragohain wrecked the South Point innings with a four-wicket haul while Pawan Thakuria and Dhrubajeet Kalita took two each.

Assam Cricket Association secretary Bikash Baruah. Donor Ganesh Tamuly, Nabajyoti Club president Diganta Baruah, ASJA president Subodh Malla Baruah, secretary Saurav Bora were also present in the function as guests and gave away prizes to individual players.

Hrishikesh Tamuly, Dhrubajit Kalita and Akshay Narain (all DPS) were adjudged best batsman, best bowler and most promising player of the tournament respectively. Nidershan Kalita got the man-of-the-final award.
