GUWAHATI, Feb 17 - The 29th anniversary celebrations of Down Town Hospital concluded yesterday evening with the 26th Down Town public oration and award function.
The oration was delivered by Dr Sunil Shroff, senior consultant (urology and transplantation) of Madras Medical Mission Hospital, Chennai, on the topic �Progress made with deceased organ donation and transplantation programme in India�.
Dr Amarjyoti Choudhury, VC of Assam Down Town University, inaugurated the oration. On the occasion, the Down Town �Award for Excellence in Medicine 2018� was given to Dr Bibhash Chandra Goswami, founder Director of State Cancer Institute, GMCH, for his contribution in the field of medical and health services.
The award carried a gold medal, a memento, a citation and a cheque of Rs 1 lakh.
The Prof Jogesh Mahanta Memorial Award was presented to Dr BK Das, head of the Department of ENT, Fakhruddin Ali Ahmed Medical College, Barpeta, while the Prof Pratul Goswami Memorial Award was given to Dr Sukla Das, resident consultant of biochemistry of Down Town Hospital.
