TIHU, March 8 - The 15th Sri Sri Krishna Doul Mahotsav will be observed on the premises of Jagannath temple of Ratnpur (Bishnupur) village of Nalbari district with a four-day long programme from March 11.
Full preparations are going on to celebrate the festival of colour in full swing with religious fervour. In this connection, a strong celebration committee along with nine sub committees have been formed with Sailen (Ghanashyam) Sarma as president, Lohit Kalita as working president, Rupanka Bhattacharya and Pranjit Barman as secretary. Again, a Guwahati city committee has also been formed with Gadadhar Kalita as president, Dhrubajyoti Sarma as working president and Dimbeswar Barman as secretary.
The main programmes of the celebration will be cleanliness drive, flag hoisting, smriti tarpan, tree plantation, opening the gate, sports competition, banti prajjalan at Doul Mandap, nagara naam etc. The Doul Mahotsav will inaugurated by Pabindra Deka, MLA, Patacharkuchi at 5 pm on March 11. The other programmes include pujarambha, santiparba, dhulia, children drama, public meeting, felicitation, cultural nite, Bhagawat path etc. A host of reputed artists like Chayanika Bhuyan, Jina Rajkumari and Munin Das will participate in the special cultural night on March 13.
Meanwhile, the permanent Doul Mahotsav committee, celebration committee and the Guwahati city committee have appealed to all the religious people of greater Tihu area to extend their co-operation for the success of the festival.
