NAGAON, March 3 � Doul festival, popularly known as the festival of colours will be observed here along with other parts of the country. The festival reaches new heights at Batadrava, the birth place of Srimanta Sankardeva, where people from all walks of life irrespective of caste, creed and religion always take part.
In a statement, Brajen Kakati, secretary of the Batadrava Than reception committee informed that the festival will be observed at Bordua from March 4 to 8. The festival will start with taal kubua prasanga and manjira naam on March 4.
Various religious functions like aai naam, bhakat naam, gunamala bhatima prasanga, gohain phurua, etc., will be held during the doul festival.
He further informed that the cultural function to be held on the occasion will be formally declared opened by Addl Chief Secretary MGVK Bhanu, where the president of the managing committee Paramananda Dev Mahanta will light the lamp and Satradhikar Devananda Goswami will release the souvenir. Bhaona and other cultural items will be presented during the festival.
The management committee has appealed to all the people to extend their cooperation for the success of the festival.
