Double crown for State boy Madhurya

GUWAHATI, Nov 19 � The India Club-AITA Championship Tennis Tournament for U-16 years came to an end today. In a well contested boys� singles final match, top seed Madhurya Dutta of Assam clinched the title defeating Nirbhay Singh Soin (2nd seed) of Gujarat 6-3, 6-4. Maitry Phukan (3rd seed) of Assam stopped the terrific run of Priyana Kalita, also of Assam, beating her 6-2, 1-6, 6-1 in the girls� singles final.

In the boys� doubles finals, Madhurya Dutta and Sidhant Deka of Assam trounced their statemates Arunansu Borthakur and Amlanjyoti Baruah 6-0, 7-5.

The girls� doubles title was bagged by the Assam duo of Marisha Dutta and Manaswinee Hazarika defeating Sanghamitra Thakur and Jayati Sarma of Assam, 6-2, 6-3.

In a well attended prize distribution ceremony, trophies and prizes were distributed by Bhupathi Kr Das, MD of NRL, Deepakanand Bharali of iocl (neiso), Dipannita Jaiswal, MD of dy-365 and Ramesh Verma of Verma Sports.
