DOOMDOOMA , Sept 30 - The congress legislator of Doomdooma LAC , Durga Bhumij on Wednesday staged a four-hour sit-in demonstration from 10 am at Dollong Line of Rupai Tea Estate near the collapsed bridge located on Doomdooma - Dighaltarrang PWD Road here demanding its immediate reconstruction.
Hundreds of congress party workers along with representatives from Baghjan, Bandarkhati, Kordoiguri and Daisajan gaon panchayats, general public and representatives of various other organisations also took part in the protest.
Talking to this correspondent MLA Bhumij said, �The government is not giving importance for the reconstruction of the bridge, which was collapsed three months back. Though the government representatives of the government had assured the locals that the bridge would be reconstructed soon , but it is yet to be materialised�.
�The State government is depriving the Doomdooma LAC from various welfare schemes under SOPD , IRDF, NLCPR , SDRF and SIGNATURE projects,� Bhumij alleged. He also threatened to launch a massive agitation , if the bridge is not repaired early.
The bridge on the Doomdooma - Dighaltarrang PWD Road, nearly eight kilometers from the Baghjan Oilfield, had collapsed on June 24 because of heavy rains and regular movement of heavy vehicles.
