GUWAHATI, Sept 3 - The Assam Senior Citizens� Association (ASCA) and the Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association (GSCA) have donated Rs 11,000 and Rs 10,000 respectively to the Chief Minister�s Relief Fund.

DN Chakravartty, president, GSCA, and Uttam Baruah presented the amount on behalf of the GSCA, while Dr Manoranjan Sarma, president, ASCA, and Baneswar Khound, general secretary, presented the cheques to the Chief Minister.

Chakravartty also presented a memorandum to the Chief Minister, requesting him to modify the State policy for elderly persons by making provisions for a separate directorate for the welfare of elderly citizens of the State.

The memorandum submitted by the associations also included the demand for a guesthouse and geriatric subjects in the syllabi of medical colleges and also a provision for separate geriatric wards in all the district hospitals of the State.
