GUWAHATI, Sept 12 - The glorious 80-year journey of The Assam Tribune, the premier and oldest English daily of the North East, is going to be portrayed in a documentary to be produced by Computer Education Centre (CEC) Society.
�As an English newspaper published from Guwahati and Dibrugarh with a large readership, The Assam Tribune is the most popular newspaper in the North East. Its popularity has a lot to do with its credibility. This is also one of the biggest platforms which helped CEC, our educational institutions and many others to reach out to the targeted audiences in our business and flourish,� Dipankar Dutta, founder president, CEC, said.
Dutta added that it is CEC�s duty to deliver and conserve the true essence of this golden era of The Assam Tribune for the future generations of Assam by providing them the rightful context of this intriguing piece of history in audio-visual format.
�It is indeed one of my dreams that we should preserve the chronicle of this era of clean and respectable journalism and present it to the global audience,� he said.
Dutta, together with Arunima Dutta, entrepreneur and yoga specialist, had initiated the idea of making a documentary on the newspaper. The shooting for the documentary will start from the auspicious day of Biswakarma Puja on September 17.
The project will showcase various exclusive interviews on the premises of The Assam Tribune revealing the challenges, pitfalls and triumphs faced in its eight-decade journey.
�This documentary film also looks at the transformation of news and reporting from the inception to the current digital age,� Dutta said.
