Doctors stir hits medical services

By CORRESPONDENT

DERGAON, Dec 11 - Due to the Assam Medical Service Associations support to the nationwide strike called by the Indian Medical Association, medical services were severely affected in Golaghat district today.

As all the government and private allopathic doctors joined the strike, no medical service, except Covid-19 and emergency duties, could be rendered in the district during the entire day. The doctors marked their protest by remaining absent from duty from 8 am to 6 pm.

Senior doctor at the Golaghat Civil Hospital Dr Ananta Baruah told this correspondent that the policy of the Union Health Ministry, allowing Ayurvedic doctors to conduct surgeries, which are otherwise performed by specialists under the modern medical system, would lead to a critical situation.
