Doctors, nurses sent on 14-day quarantine

SILCHAR, April 7 - As many as 18 medical staff including doctors, nurses and paramedical crew who treated Assam�s first coronavirus (COVID-19) positive patient at the Silchar Medical College and Hospital-cum-COVID-19 hospital have been sent on quarantine after seven days of their duty.

Suman Choudhury, District Media Expert, NHM Cachar, while talking to The Assam Tribune on Tuesday said, � there are 18 medical personnel including doctors nurses and paramedical staff who had treated the first COVID-19 positive patient in the State from Karimganj district at the hospital since March 31. They have been sent on 14-day quarantine, as per protocol.�

Further, Choudhury informed that the 18 persons have been alloted 18 single occupancy AC rooms at a local hotel since Monday evening and they are being given proper vegeterian breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Asked about the sanitisation of the hotel staff who would be attending the room service tasks for the quarantined medical team, Choudhury replied that the staff of the hotel have been given sanitary merchandise and care is being taken regarding their safety as well.
