Do not fall prey to rumours, people urged

GUWAHATI, July 29 - Asking all sections of society to maintain restraint and not to fall prey to any propaganda or rumour after the second draft of the NRC is published tomorrow, social organization Brothers today said that it would continue to hold awareness programmes specially to alleviate any doubts or fears related to the NRC.

�Since time immemorial, Assam has been an example of religious and communal harmony and people of all faiths and ethnicities have lived here as brothers and sisters. We are peaceful people and understand the power of unity. However, taking the advantage of the sensitive situation and some amount of confusion among some people, the antisocial elements might try to provoke people and create law and order problems in society. We appeal to all to see through such nefarious designs and maintain restraint,� secretary general of the organization Dibyajyoti Saikia said.

�We have been organizing several sensitization programmes to deal with NRC related rumours since October 2017. Genuine Indian citizens have nothing to fear even it they do not find their names in the draft NRC. Several options are open to them get their names registered,� he further mentioned.
