GUWAHATI, Oct 8 - The Guwahati Senior Citizens� Association and Brihattar Panjabari Sahitya Sabha (BPSS) felicitated senior journalist DN Chakravartty on his 93rd birthday today.
President of BPSS Dr Bhabendranath Deva Sarma and general secretary Hiralal Bora, among others, felicitated Chakravartty.
Acknowledging the felicitation, Chakravartty described BPSS as one of the most active branches of Asam Sahitya Sabha which had been rendering splendid services for the promotion of Assamese literature and unity and understanding among the local people.
�Writer and administrative expert the late PC Baruah, popular physician the late Dr Bijoyananda Baruah and social activist the late Santiram Kalita had extended exemplary services towards the growth of Assamese literature and social service through BPSS,� Chakravartty said.
Usha Deka, Dipti Bora, Madhuri Bhuyan and Bhanu Medhi recalled Chakravartty�s contributions to society. Bhupen Goswami, chief adviser to the Journalists Association of Assam also extended the association�s greetings to the veteran journalist. Mridul Baruah, general secretary of Baligaon Milon Chora, also felicitated Chakravartty on behalf of the organisation.
