GUWAHATI, June 7 - The Kamrup (Metro) district administration will observe International Yoga Day on the Sonaram HS School field on June 21.
The main objective of celebrating the Yoga Day is to create awareness about yoga amongst the people. The theme of this year�s Yoga Day is �Promoting health and happiness through yoga�.
A meeting was held earlier this week at the Guwahati Circuit House to review preparations for International Yoga Day. It was chaired by Kamrup (Metro) Deputy Commissioner Virendra Mittal and attended by District Development Commissioner Dr Bijoya Choudhury, Additional DC PP Kathkatia, Joint Director of Health Services Dr Ganesh Saikia, Inspector of Schools B Gogoi Bhuyan, along with other officials of various departments and representatives from Patanjali Yoga Pith, Art of Living and Indian Yoga Culture and Yoga Therapy Centre.
During the meeting, Mittal allotted works to various departments. He directed the departments concerned to accomplish their works like installation of toilet, PA system and erection of tent of the rostrum on schedule.
The block-wise celebration of Yoga Day was also discussed at the meeting.
