District admin directive for Diwali celebration

GUWAHATI, Oct 20 � The Kamrup (M) district administration has issued a set of rules regarding purchase, sale and bursting of firecrackers in the period leading up to and during Diwali, including a ban on imported fireworks. As per the order issued by District Magistrate of Kamrup (M) Dr M Angamuthu, who is also the DC, no fireworks or firecrackers can be used between 10 pm and 6 am and no fireworks are permitted at any time in �silence zones�. No clandestinely imported fireworks can be sold in the city and applicants seeking to sell fireworks must submit a proof of their nationality. �No licence for sale or use of high- sounding crackers such as firecrackers generating noise level exceeding 125 decibel... shall be permitted,� the order said, adding that the fireworks licence will be valid only from Oct 22 to 24.
