GUWAHATI, May 22 The dissidents in the State Congress are heading for a collision course with Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi and they have sought an appointment with Governor JB Patnaik to withdraw their support from the Gogoi government.

The dissidents swung into action immediately after Congress president Sonia Gandhi turned down the Chief Ministers offer to step down owning moral responsibility for the partys debacle in the Lok Sabha polls. After a series of meetings, the dissidents decided to meet the Governor.

Sources in the dissident camp told The Assam Tribune that a group of legislators are planning to meet the Governor tomorrow to express their no-confidence on the Chief Minister. We have already sent a fax to the Raj Bhawan seeking an appointment with the Governor. We are going to express no-confidence on the Chief Minister and it is up to the Governor to decide what to do. However, none of the dissidents are ready to resign from the Congress, sources added.
