By Staff Reporter

GUWAHATI, March 1 The people of east Guwahati have urged the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) to expedite the process of drinking water supply in the area to provide relief to the tax-paying citizens.

Expressing dissatisfaction with the ongoing pace of work, PK Barthakur, president of the New Guwahati Anchalik Unnayan Samiti said the land procurement process for the East Guwahati Water Supply Project has not been started yet.

The people of east Guwahati have been suffering from acute water scarcity despite paying regular taxes to the GMC. Despite repeated pleas, no positive step has been taken so far, said Barthakur.
