DIMAPUR, April 24 - The Naga Peoples Front (NPF) today filed a disqualification petition against seven erring MLAs of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly. The MLAs are EE Pangteang, Eshak Konyak, Kejong Chang, BS Nganglang, Toyang Chang, Thongwang Konyak and CL John.

According to the NPF, the disqualification petition has been filed against them as they had wilfully defied the partys collective decision to support the Congress in the April 11 Parliamentary election to the lone Nagaland Parliamentary constituency. ...openly going against the partys decision amounts to voluntarily giving up the membership of the party (NPF), the NPF said.

The NPF has empowered the NPF Legislature Wing to file and pursue the disqualification petition against the erring MLAs. Accordingly, as empowered by the party, the NPF Legislature Wing has filed the disqualification petition in the office of the Speaker of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly, the NPF added. The party hopes that the Honble Speaker will dispose of the matter within time and without fear or favour as per law, it said.
