Disqualification of 8 Nagaland MLAs sought

By Correspondent

DIMAPUR, Aug 11 - All the eight Congress legislators of Nagaland may face disqualification for joining the Democratic Alliance of Nagaland (DAN) government where BJP is also a partner.

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K Therie informed that the All India Congress Committee (AICC) has decided to file a petition for disqualification of the eight Congress legislators for violating party directives. As per reports, the Congress had asked the party MLAs not to join the NPF-led DAN coalition, which has BJP as alliance member.

In a release, Therie expressed regret that the matter has reached a point of no return, adding that time has come for all to decide as to which ideological principles of the political parties one wished to adopt.

Stating that politics without principles is like floating in the ocean without destination, Therie said his only appeal was for the eight to decide prayerfully.

He reiterated that Congress would provide the alternative platform as the party is in the process of bringing out the NPCC roadmap for the 2018 Assembly elections.

Therie said the party would go to the people and share the goals and also set goals with them and therefore appealed to all Congress men and women to be strong in the light of the current political situation.
