Discussion on tax proposals in Union Budget

GUWAHATI, March 15 - The Study Circle Committee of Tax Bar Association, Guwahati organised a meeting on important aspects related to taxation in the Union Budget proposals of 2016 in association with the NE chapter of the Institute of Company Secretaries of India (ICSI) recently.

Bikash Agarwala and Naveen Garg critically analysed important changes in provisions of the income tax law relating to audit, presumptive taxation and voluntary disclosure scheme announced in this budget. Various technical problems in proposed amendments and the likely impact on business and profession were also discussed under the moderation of senior chartered accountant BL Purohit.

Raginee Goyal discussed the changes in the Central Excise and Service Tax which shall be made effective in the next few months on various dates. Certain limited exemption proposals which needed review and consideration by the Finance Ministry were also discussed.

Members of both the bodies attended the meeting where Raginee Goyal, chairperson of the Study Circle Committee introduced the panellists. President of Tax Bar Association, OP Agarwalla and CS Biman Debnath, chairperson of the North East Chapter of ICSI co-chaired the meeting.
