GUWAHATI, July 27 - The Forum for Social Harmony, Deshaprem and Basundhara for New Days will hold a day-long public meeting to discuss the issues connected with the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016 at the Bishnu-Nirmala Bhawan here tomorrow from 11 am.
The event organisers said in a statement that the discussion is aimed at creating a democratic environment for exchange of all sorts of views, including the contentious ones, on the above issues.
Development of a healthy nationalism demands a healthy atmosphere for debate on the contentious issues involving the citizens. A democratic nationalism should always oppose centralisation of finance and governance and it thrives only by upholding the principle of unity amidst diversity, said the organisers, adding, the event is being organised keeping these ideas in view.
