DIBRUGARH, March 9 - The Department of Business Management, Information & Career Guidance Cell (ICGC) in collaboration with the students� union of the college organised an oration on the topic, �Event management as a career� recently.
Afsana Anjam, a promising event management entrepreneur of the region said, �The term �event management� literally means management of any event. It can imply managing events of diverse category like social functions, corporate programmes, public rallies, concerts and even wedding and birthday parties etc. The job of an event planner is to ensure that the event is special and every sequence of the programme is conducted orderly.�
Anjam further said that for an event planner to succeed, one has to either start with some novel ideas in a locality or have to engage in things creatively and differently. Afsana is an alumnus of the host college and founder of SCISSORS, a State-level event management company headquartered here in the city. An interaction with the students was also held after her deliberation.
The programme was inaugurated by Dr KM Bhagawati, principal of the institution. Dr Bhagawati opined that in today�s age of marketing, event management could be a great career opportunity for the educated youths. He asked the gathering to take benefit of such career-oriented programmes. Dr Joydev Gogoi, HoD of the Department of Business Management also attended the programme, a release stated.
