GUWAHATI, Sept 20 - A team of experts from Asahi Kasei Geotechnologies Co Ltd, Japan, had a discussion on Friday on checking erosion with State Innovation and Transformation Aayog (SITA) Vice Chairman Dipok Kumar Barthakur.
During the meeting at Janata Bhawan, the experts made a power-point presentation on the �Fabriform Technique� � describing the different techniques in controlling erosion. They said that in Assam, the technology was tried and tested successfully at Rani (near LGBI Airport), Numaligarh (Golaghat) and near Raj Bhawan, Guwahati, as pilot projects long back.
They said that the methods may be suitable in Assam as the construction of revetments was carried out for protecting the shore lines of canals, rivers and reservoirs, stated an official release.
Barthakur appreciated the techniques discussed in controlling erosion, and assured the experts that he would take up the matter with the relevant departments and the government which might adopt the technology for developing erosion control measures.
