MORIGAON, May 17 � A tug-of-war between the Principal, Morigaon College and a few students is going on inside the college campus over the discollegiate issue.
According to Dr Hare Krishna Dev Sarma, Principal, Morigaon College, as many as 150 degree students of three streams( Science, Arts, Commerce) were discollegiated as their attendence was not satisfactory during different semesters. As the discollegiate order was notified by the college Principal on May 6. as many as 20 degree students including Labhu Amsong, General Secretary, College Student body resorted to agitation against the Principal. They locked up the Principal�s office chamber on May 12 and 13.
Labhu Amsong, general secretary of the student body of the college alleged that the Principal notified the order of non collegiate and discollegiate after the form fill-up process of the final semester which will harm the poor students. On the other hand, the Principal said that college administration cannot succumb to the unjust demands of some unruly students who are rich and did not attend even 50 per cent of regular classes. The Principal has apprised the matter to the Deputy Commissioner, Morigaon.
