NAGAON, Dec 10 � The Nagaon Deputy Commissioner, Dr M Aangmattu is preparing to establish Nagaon district as a disabled friendly district. With this aim World Disabled Day was observed here on December 3.
The programme started with the hoisting of flag by Alaluddin Ahmed, president of the District Disabled Association. ADC Ratneswar Bara initiated the tee plantation programme.
Sports, music and art competition was arranged which was formally declared opened by DC Dr M Aangamattu. He also distributed the sports dress to the participants.
In the afternoon prize distribution function was held where among others MP Nazneen Faruque and MLA Gautam Bora were present. Social Welfare Officer Mauideepa Saikia welcomed the guest. The secretary of Sreemanta Sankar Mission, Balladev Sharma and officer of Sarba Shikshya Mission, Bijumani Hazarika also addressed the gathering.
DC Dr M Aangamathu informed about the steps taken to make the district a disabled- friendly one. He formally handed over some items to about 300 disabled persons.

The day was observed jointly by the district administration, Social Welfare Department, Sarba Shikshya Mission Abhijan, Sreemanta Sankar Mission and Sadau Asam Gramya Puthibharal Santha.
