Directive on Neamatighat protection

JORHAT, June 4 - Taking stock of the situation at Neamatighat in Jorhat today Water Resources Minister Keshab Mahanta directed all the officials of his department to protect the remaining portion of the approach road at the location where a considerable portion of the black-topped road was washed away by the rising waters of Brahmaputra.

Water data received from the Water Resources department revealed that water level of the mighty river was recorded in this evening as 85.40 meter at Neamatighat which is predicted to be on rising trend for next 24 hours. However, the plying of machine boats between Nematighat and Majuli remained continued for the day.

Officials of district administration said that the district level officials of IWT, Disaster Management department, PWD (Roads), PHE, Health and Family Welfare department were alerted by the DC Virendra Mittal today to be ready for serving on emergency if any kind of flood occurs in the district.
