By CORRESPONDENT

DIPHU, April 18 - Defying the bandh called by Dimasa National Liberation Army, the Diphu Parliamentary constituency today recorded around 75 per cent voting (till the filing of this report). Brisk polling was reported from all Assembly segments including Diphu, Howraghat, Bokajan, Baithalangso and Haflong extending across West Karbi Anglong, Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong districts.

According to Assistant Returning Officer of Diphu Parliamentary constituency, Mukul Kathar, barring some incidents of EVM snags in some polling stations, voting was largely peaceful. All the defective EVMs were replaced at the earliest and the polling continued without any hitch. The weather was also fair and caused minimum difficulties to the polling personnel. We are yet to receive the final tally of the votes cast, Kathar added.
