Dipali Chaliha felicitated at Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Aug 24 - Noted educationist Dipali Chaliha was felicitated by more than a hundred organisations at Sivasagar on Monday. She was also awarded the Special Award by Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on the occasion of Independence Day in Guwahati recently.

In the programme, various organisations, including Sivasagar Natya Samaj, Sivasagar Press Club, Seuj Konwar Parag Chaliha Smriti Rakshya Samity, Chaulung Sukafa Indoor Stadium Management Committee, Mou Mel, Sivasagar Bar Association, Sivasagar Municipal Board and several others, felicitated her.

Speaking on the occasion, Chaliha said that under the leadership of late Fuleswari Dutta, she started a movement in order to establish a gender equality and woman independent society. She said that her husband late Parag Chaliha was her inspiration.

Earlier, Chaliha was led to Sivasagar Natya Mandir in a huge procession from her house.

The programme was also attended by ADC, DN Morang, Arjun Bhogeswar Barua, Lakhikanta Mahanta, Ajit Borpujari and others.
