SILAPATHAR, June 27 The Dimow river has been threatening several villages under Silasuti GP of Sissiborgaon development block for the past several years. The river has also eroded land of several families of cultivators of Bhagawan Borgora.
In the last two years, 100 families of Bhagawan Borgora like Brojen Mili, Deba Patir, Boga Norah, Lakhi Nath Narah, Nagen Taye, Suwan Taye, Bubu Taye, Lambodar Mili, Lalit Taye, Gam Mili, Mohan Taye, Sarbeswar Payeng, Kartik Narah, Sitaram Taye, Ikuram Payeng, Ragubar Taye, Bhoben Payeng, Mohendra Taye, Masjid Taye, Bhupen Narah, etc. have lost their cultivable land.
Moreover, the helpless families are crying for their rehabilitation though concerned authorities have not taken any measures for the riverine tribal villagers.
The Dimow river has been eroding continuously several bighas of cultivable land of Archi Borgora, Dimow-gulai, Sivanathpur, Kuligaon, Bhagawan Mising village, etc.
On the other hand, an amount of Rs 60 lakh was sanctioned under Gaon Panchayat scheme to protect from erosion by constructing spars in the river. The local riverine villagers are not getting benefits from the GP schemes due to the unscientific construction and large-scale of irregularities in construction.
So, the riverine villagers have demanded the concerned authorities for taking suitable measures in this regard.
