Dimbeswar Lahon receives Bokul Ban Award

JORHAT, Jan 27 � Litterateur Dimbeswar Lahon, who has made stellar contributions towards Assamese folk culture, was awarded with the Bokul Ban Award 2015 in a grand function held in the Chandra Kanta Handique Bhawan here today.

On behalf of the Bokul Ban Nyas, noted scholar of Satriya culture and educationist, Pabitra Pran Goswami, gave away the award to Lahon.

Receiving the award, Lahon, a resident of Lahon Gaon of Chintamonigarh area in the district, said that it will inspire him to contribute more to the field of folk culture and literature in Assam.

The award is given by the Bokul Ban Nyas in memory of former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Padma Shri Ananda Chandra Baruah, who was called �Bokul Banar Kobi�.

Along with the president of the Nyas, Samiran Bordoloi, the president of Jorhat Zila Sahitya Sabha, Indrajit Kumar Baruah, and representatives of various organisations, including AASU, Jyoti Cine Club and Bokul Ban Samaj, lauded the invaluable contributions made by Lahon.

Several organisations felicitated him during the programme.
