Dimapur case to be handed over to CBI

KOHIMA, March 19 � An emergency Cabinet meeting chaired by Nagaland Chief Minister TR Zeliang has decided to hand over the investigation of police case relating to lynching of rape accused in Dimapur on March 5, to the CBI.

The Cabinet which met last night deliberated on the incident involving the taking out of Syed Farid Khan, a rape accused from judicial custody in Central Jail, Dimapur and his lynching.

Considering the widespread attention invited by the incident nationally and internationally, and demands made by several organisations to hand over the case to CBI, and also the involvement of large number of people in the incident, the Cabinet decided to hand over the case to the CBI. � Newmai News
