HAFLONG, Jan 17 - State Finance Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma�s campaign for elections to 12th NC Hills Autonomous Council in Dima Hasao drew a huge crowd.
Sharma accompanied by minister Pijus Hazarika along with chief executive member Debolal Gorlosa, MLA BB Hagjer, members of the autonomous council attended and addressed a series of election meetings at Langting, Kalachand, Mahur and Haflong.
In the meeting, the Finance Minister announced that an extra Rs 10 crore special package would be sanctioned to the constituencies like Hatikali, Langting, Maibang West, Maibang East, Kalachand, Mahur and Dauthuhaja for the construction of roads and all-round development, while highlighting the development works done by the Centre, Dispur and the council.
He also stated that six per cent of revenues gained from the North Eastern Electric Power Corporation (NEEPCo) would be given to the Autonomous Council. He also said the State government led by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and his cabinet are committed to all-round development of the district.
The Finance Minister said he was not here to mislead the people but to help them make Dima Hasao strong and self-dependent. He further said the people of Dima Hasao have realised the fact that the BJP is the only party which can develop the district irrespective of caste, creed and religion.
