DIMAPUR, Oct 4 - Notorious Assam-based banned outfit Dima Hasao National Army (DHNA) suffered a major setback when its senior commanders were neutralised in a series of daring operations conducted by Assam Rifles in conjunction with Nagaland and Assam Police, claimed a statement by IGAR (North).

According to the statement, the Commander-in-Chief of DHNA Kepre Region, Thaijandro Langthasa alias Jamang along with his accomplice was apprehended from a hotel in Jalukie by Assam Rifles troops on September 29-30. These terrorists came to Peren district of Nagaland to procure illegal arms, establish their network and further extend their influence across Nagaland in connivance with some Naga insurgent groups, said the statement.

Following sustained questioning of these terrorists, the troops apprehended another DHNA cadre from Khelma besides recovering grenades, etc. The team extended their operation to the Kepre area of Assam where the joint team of Assam Rifles and Assam Police busted a hideout of DHNA deep inside the jungles of Langokro.

The troops also unearthed three dug-in caches of arms and stores such as assault rifles, ammunition, radio set, walkie-talkies, detonators, combat dresses, incriminating documents, extortion note slips, etc. The troops also rescued a civilian named Paramjit Kemprai who was in forced custody of DHNA.

Thaijandro Langthasa alias Jamang was the most wanted terrorist in Assam with nine cases against him for anti-national activities, the statement claimed.
