Speaking on the occasion, Dr Bora said that the managements of the universities have not been able to answer the question as to whether Assamese language will continue to exist at the graduate level in the arts, commercce or science streams. Even though the Sahitya Sabha has posed this question many a time to the authorities, no satisfactory answer has been forthcoming from the latter. In this context, it may be said that the university authorities are working for the ruin of the Assamese language, he said and appealed to the younger generation to love and respect their language, because only if language exists, culture will exist and only if culture exists, a civilization will continue to grow.
