Dikchow Banat Palaax set for Sept 30 release

GUWAHATI, Sept 27 - After critically acclaimed Assamese feature film Jaangfaai Jonaak, city-based film production banner Canvascope is ready with yet another Assamese feature film Dikchow Banat Palaax, which will be released on September 30 across theatres in Assam. This was announced at a press conference held at the Guwahati Press Club on Monday.

Directed by National Award winning filmmaker Sanjib Sabhapandit of Juye Pooraa Xon fame, Dikchow Banat Palaax explores the relationship of a freedom fighter and a Naga woman through decades of separation.

The film Dikchow Banat Palaax is set in 1946 when the protagonist is banished from his home district for fighting against the British. The protagonist then wanders his way to the Naga hills where true love blossoms between him and a Naga damsel. But, the love birds unfortunately get separated and it is only in the year 2000 that the protagonist, now in his 80s and a dementia patient, recollects memories of his past after seeing a few coins given to him by the woman he loved, which he carefully preserved all along. He then decides to anyhow revisit the place, locate in Mokokchung district in Nagaland, with the help of a driver known to him so that he can return those coins to her.
