Dijen Nath conferred children�s literary award

TEZPUR, Nov 15 - The Asomiya Sishu Sahitya Bota 2020, instituted by Akonir Sahitya Sabha, a literary platform for children headquartered at Nagaon, has been conferred on noted writer, playwright and social worker Dijen Nath.

The award will be presented at a function to be held in Tezpur in December.

Nath has been working in the field of psycho-physical development of children. Till date, he has written over 40 children�s plays. Among them, Ami Asu, Uplopdhi, Paruar Jur, Loobh, O Xoru Chorai, Xoru-Xoru Dangar Kotha, Xewali Phular Dore, Triranga, Kordoi Gurir Bhogoban, Swadhinata Dibasar Sankalpa, Luka Bhaku Bhaal Nalage, Omuhatar Sisu Divas, Rupali Nadir Xunali Bali, Bhulor Shiksha, Phool Phulibo Phulonit, Bon Bhojor Bor Dhul, Kokadeutar Xadhu, Phool-kuwonar, Mahatmar Sokulu, Aitar-Kotha Mur Bhaxa have played a big role in strengthening children�s literature.

Nath, son of Late Premananda Nath of Chandmari area of Tezpur, graduated from Darrang College and is now an employee of the veterinary department, Government of Assam. He is also associated with Baan Theatre and Tezpur Sahitya Sabha, besides other socio-cultural organisations.

Pankaj Baruah, an executive member of the Akonir Sahitya Sabha, said that during the award presentation event to be held next month, a few story books translated to English by some children will also be released.

�The Akonir Sahitya Sabha instituted-award has been conferred to persons having contributed towards children�s literature since 2014. In 2014, the award was given to Dilip Kumar Baruah, Sachindra Kumar Adhikari in 2015, Bina Sharma in 2016, Jugal Lochan Das in 2017, Nupur Mumaidew in 2018 and Akangshya Tamuli of Lakhimpur in 2019,� Baruah said.
