Differently-abled minors create awareness on child rights

DIBRUGARH, June 29 - The district child protection unit in collaboration with Mrinaljyoti Rehabilitation Centre (Jyoti Nivas), Duliajan and with support from the State Child Protection Society, organised streetplays on child rights at two separate locations in Duliajan.

Those performing the streetplays were differently-abled children from Jyoti Nivas Children�s Home. Through the play, the performers tried to create awareness among the masses about various child rights and their protection.

Those present in the awareness campaign were Farhan Rahman, Protection Officer (Institutional Care), secretary-cum- Principal Amiya Pathak Borpujari, Superintendent of Mrinal Jyoti Jyotiniwas Children�s Home Prabhakar Singh.

Emphasising on the eradication of various forms of child labour, Farhan Rahman mentioned about the helpline (Childline) toll free number 1098 and their functionaries, particularly Child Welfare Committee and Juvenile Justice Board. He also spoke about the pertinent laws and consequences of violating them, a release stated.
