DERGAON, Aug 22 - Addressing a freshers� social function held at the Dergaon Basic Training Centre (DBTC) here recently, GU research scholar-cum-resource person Sanjoy Hazarika highlighted different aspects of teaching as a career and urged all the students to dedicate themselves for community development.
The day-long programme, held with the Principal of DBTC Usha Mahanta in the chair, was moderated by Asfica Begum and Monsumi Tamuli. Taking part as a guest of honour, retired Principal of Rawnapara Basic Training Centre of river island Majuli district highlighted different aspects of the DElEd course and urged the students to be sincere in their day-to-day endeavours.
Another guest, namely retired Principal of Joysagar Basic Training Centre Prasantamoni Das explained the duties and responsibilities of the students of the pre-service course for teacher appointment.
The meeting was also addressed by the senior instructor of DBTC Mitali Bhuyan and students Monoj Bora and Madhusmita Gogoi.
Earlier, the objective of the programme was explained by Manish Bharadwaj. The students presented different cultural programmes. Instructor Janmoni Narah presented songs on the occasion. The meeting was also attended by senior instructor Jogaprasad Mahanta, Dibyajyoti Das and Geetali Das. Papori Chetia was adjudged as the �best fresher�, while Bitopi Bhuyan and Ritamoni Bora were declared the �second best fresher� respectively. The day-long programme ended with a vote of thanks by Abhijit Charah.
