Dibrugarh win sub jr football title

JAGIROAD, Aug 1 - Dibrugarh emerged champions in the 41st Inter District Sub Junior (U-14) Football Tournament to lift the Satindra Mohan Dev Trophy. In the final played today at the Nellie playground under Jagiroad constituency in Morigaon district, Dibrugarh trounced Gossaigaon 4-2.

Gauri Kanta Baruah of Dibrugarh broke the deadlock in the eighth minute while Ujjal Gogoi increased the lead after two minutes. Binash Mushahary reduced the margin in the 25th minute. But Sagar Giri (38th minute) and Tonmoy Gogoi (70th minute) managed to take the game under complete control with a comfortable 4-1 lead.

Swaranj Basumatary of Gossaigaon found the back of the net in the 80th minute to make it 4-2. The final match was conducted by Manash Pratim Kalita of Morigaon.

Earlier, SAI Director Subhash Basumatary inaugurated the final match. AFA president Hemendra Nath Brahma and secretary Ankur Dutta, actress Barasarani Bishaya and Tiwa Autonomous Council Chief Executive Member Paban Manta were the guests in the closing function and they gave away the trophies.
