DIBRUGARH, April 13 - The Dibrugarh main drain will be cleared of water hyacinth, debris and garbage from Saturday, and the work will be executed by the Water Resources Department.
The emergency cleaning work has been undertaken in view of the ensuing monsoon season. The cleaning work will be between Paltan Bazar and Lalukagaon, in the first phase.
Today, a team of officials of the Dibrugarh administration and Water Resources Department took stock of the congestion level at the main drain here. The team witnessed widespread garbage disposal right into the drain, and some alleged encroachments also. Waste disposal into the drain by citizens is a cause of serious concern, whether it is the main drain or the other feeder drains of the city.
