By Staff Correspondent

DIBRUGARH, May 29 - In an effort to bring the district administration a step closer to the common people and to enable the citizens to easily take an appointment to meet the Deputy Commissioner here, Swagatam, an application software was launched on Thursday by Deputy Commissioner Pallav Gopal Jha in the presence of District Development Commissioner Sanjoy Dutta, Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajib Thapa and the District Informatics Officer, NIC Promod Nath and his team.

The appointment seeking software Swagatam, claimed to be the first-of-its-kind in the State is a cloud-based application software, developed by the NIC, Government of India and specially designed by NIC Team Dibrugarh as per the needs of the district to facilitate the process of taking an appointment to meet the Deputy Commissioner for the common people of the district. The software was launched during a meeting held at the conference hall of the DCs office.

Jha said that the main target is to cover the rural people, who come from interior areas. People come with their issues to meet DC but due to previous engagements, they wait for hours. This application will put an end to the monotonous waiting system, said the DC.

For fixing an appointment using Swagatam application, one has to visit the link given in the official website of Dibrugarh district (www. dibrugarh.gov.in) for Online Appointment System-Swagatam and register oneself with mobile number. On registration, the user will get a OTP on his/her mobile phone. The OTP allows the user to submit his/her details such as name, DOB, gender, purpose of visit and preferred slots for date and time for visit. Once the details are filled in, the request for meeting will be submitted to the DC and he will schedule the appointment based on his previous engagements. As soon as the appointment is fixed, the visitor will get an SMS alert on his mobile phone and will be able to visit him at the appointed time.
