DIBRUGARH, June 25 After the recent unprecedented rainfall which caused havoc in the city, the continuing sweltering heat now has made life extremely uneasy for the residents here.
With the mercury level soaring above 37C during the day hours, commercial activities, household chores and usual office works have been jeopardized. The tormenting temperature has affected movements of pedestrians and commuters. Evidently, the vehicular traffic too has come down.
Several roadside shops chose to shut down owing to the stifling heat during the day hours. The sight of rickshaw pullers and thellawallahs was also rare today. Most of these toiling men were seen having their siesta on roadsides under trees.
Meteorology sources informed that 37C was the highest temperature so far this year. The hot weather condition is expected to remain for a few more days. But it is predicted that the temperature might slightly drop in the next few days.
