DIBRUGARH, April 25 � Refuting reports that text books meant for free distribution, were being sold in the open market, the district administration in a statement said that the allegations brought by some organisations are baseless and without facts.
�Free text-books are supplied by Sarba Shiksha Abhiyan (SSA) through the Assam Textbook Corporation, which prints and supplies the same to the SSA. Due to delay and shortfall in supply by the corporation, the latter had decided to earmark its textbooks, marked �for sale� to be rubber-stamped as �free� and distribution through SSA,� the release stated.
The matter, the administration said, has been taken up with SSA State Mission Office and corporation authorities.
Meanwhile, the district administration held a review meeting at SSA district mission office with all the block mission coordinators and asked coordinators to submit additional requirement of textbooks if any, the release stated.
