JALAH, April 30 - The diamond jubilee festival of 392 No. Sastar Balika LP School was celebrated at Sastargaon Kirtan Ghar campus under Jalah Circle in Baksa district with a two-day-long programme on April 27 and 28 last.
The diamond jubilee programme began at 6 am with flag hoisting of the diamond jubilee festival by Narapati Das, president of Diamond Jubilee Festival Committee. The ceremonial lighting of lamps was led by Riten Pathak, member of Sastar Village Development Committee and the tarpan programme was led by Niranjan Kalita, retired Headmaster.
At 9.15 am, the Madhabi Das Memorial Archway was formally inaugurated by Rohiram Das, auditor of Finance Department of the state government. The Daloram Kalita and Kaishalya Kalita Memorial Archway was inaugurated by Kiran Das, while the permanent gate of the school was inaugurated by Kapil Das, Deka Satradhikar of Gobinda Bhowan Geeta Satra of Manikpur.
At 10.15 am, the Chandra Mohan Pathak and Helani Pathak memorial stage was inaugurated by Aswini Das, president of Akhil Bharat Hindu Mahasabha, Assam and at 10.30 am, a cultural rally was flagged off by Dasarath Das.
On the closing day, the events started with a sapling plantation programme led by Shibendra Nath Das, former teacher of the school and Manoranjan Das, retired Headmaster of Ambari LP School.
The open meeting was presided over by Kanthiram Deka, retired Headmaster, while the open season was inaugurated by Kapil Das. The souvenir of the diamond jubilee festival Alok Yatra was released by Thaneswar Basumatary, MLA of Chapaguri LAC.
Milan Das, BEEO of Jalah delivered the chief guest�s speech while Bhabesh Sarma, Principal of Dr Ananta Academy, Jalah, Dr Charoj Mohan Das, lecturer of Jalah BB Kishan College, Jatindra Nath Das, retired Headmaster of LN Bezbarua High School, Bhotepowabari, Gajendra Nath Das, retired Headmaster of Kathalmurighat High School and Damodar Talukdar, regional convenor, Mother Language and State Language Application Committee of Asam Sahitya Sabha attended the open session.
At 9 pm, the Atul Kalita and Abja Kalita memorial cultural night was formally inaugurated by Damodar Talukdar, radio artiste and senior journalist. Talukdar was felicitated by a physically challenged person and writer Dhrubajyoti Das.
