DHUBRI, July 18 - The Additional CJM of Dhubri on Saturday extended the interim bail of Rajib Sarma, a local journalist of an electronic media, till July 22.
Sarma was apprehended at around 2 am on Thursday from his residence on the basis of an FIR lodged by Dhubri DFO Biswajit Roy registered at Dhubri Police Station under Sections 186/384/385/389/506 of the IPC.
Sarma�s father died of a cardiac arrest following his son�s arrest, and subsequently the CJM, Dhubri, granted him bail till Saturday.
�Today the case has been transferred to the court of Additional CJM of Dhubri, who has extended the bail till May 22. We are sure that Sarma will be granted absolute bail after that,� Jamser Talukder, the advocate representing Sarma, said.
Meanwhile, the family of the journalist lodged an FIR against Dhubri DFO Biswajit Roy, Sub-Inspector Nabajit Nath and other police officials for making a conspiracy to kill the father of the journalist, Sudin Sarma, which has been registered at Gauripur Police Station under the sections 120 (B), 109, 448, 342, 308 of the IPC.
