By Correspondent

DHUBRI, Sept 9 - On the occasion of the 92nd birth anniversary of music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika, rich tributes were paid to the bard by different organisations and individuals across the district.

In one such Sraddhanjalee programme organised near the bust of the bard on the banks of the Brahmaputra, many renowned individuals and officials of the district administration paid their tributes in the presence of Dhubri SP Longneet Terang, District Cultural Officer Jiten Das, DIPRO Bikash Sharma and senior journalist Jyotirmoyee Chakravarty. The Publicity Department played songs by the maestro during the morning hours.

Meanwhile, the historic school register of Dhubri Govt. Boys HS School for the year in which Dr Hazarika was admitted, was recovered. In that register, the age of the bard was registered as 6 years, 2 months and 3 days on May 6,1932, when he was admitted to Class-III. If the register is to be believed, then the date of birth of Dr Hazarika will be March 3, 1926.

Many individuals believe that the information contained in the Govt. Boys HS School register is true as it is the only documentary proof of age of the bard and Dr Bhupen Hazarika himself in his biography said that he was confused about his date of birth, opined Bikash Sharma, DIPRO of Dhubri.
