Dhubri municipal authority closes down shops

DHUBRI, March 21 - In a bid to encourage social distancing, the Dhubri municipal authority closed down as many as 11 shops near Deputy Commissioner�s office at Kacharighat area.

Dhubri municipal authority informed that in this area, the district court and other offices are also located due to which crowds of people are still gathering in Kacharighat area.

�To discourage the gathering on these areas we have closed down all the shops in that area,� said RS Javir, the executive officer of Dhubri Municipal Board. He also informed that they have chalked out a team of four officials who will be identifying the areas with large gatherings and will work towards reducing the gatherings.

Javir also informed that grocery shops, vegetable vendors and meat shops have been instructed to take special care towards cleanliness.

Meanwhile, the Dhubri Health department on Thursday evening has set up a medical screening team at the Chagolia entry gate across the inter-State border with West Bengal.

The said team has started screening all travellers coming from outside.

The medical team which will work from 6 in the morning to 10 pm in two shifts, informed a top level Health department official.

Apart from these, 6 persons coming from coronavirus affected States of the country were taken to the Dhubri Civil Hospital, for screening, who were later released.
