Dhubri farmers will benefit by farm Acts: BJP

By Correspondent

DHUBRI, Oct 10 - The Dhubri district BJP, on Saturday said that they firmly believe that the three farm Acts, to which the President of India gave his assent recently, will be benefiting the farmers of the agriculture-based district, big time.

Calling the bills beneficial for all kinds of farmers of the western district of the State, the Dhubri district unit president of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Dr Debamoy Sanyal said, These Acts will bring to an end the complaints of the peasants of the district that they are not getting appropriate prices of their produce. He said that just by a few clicks on their android phones or other phones, they know the farmers can sell their products whenever and wherever they want.

Addressing the press, Sanyal in presence of Amit Dhanawat, president of Dhubri District Kisan Morcha, stated that all the three farm Acts, namely, the Farmers Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020 (FPTC), the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement of Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020 (FAPAFS), also said that this will promote a healthy competition among the farmers and will initiate different agriculture-based insurance schemes among the farmers.

Under the new system, agri-insurance and crop-insurance will be promoted, which will cover the loss for the farmers, they earlier had to face due to different natural and man-made disasters, said Sanyal.

There has been a long term demand of the farmers here to set up a cold storage in the district, addressing which Sanyal said, as investments will pump in the district we can definitely see such cold storage here. Not only the State, even private players under different government schemes may open such storage.

Meanwhile, the Dhubri District Congress committee sat on a demonstration against the bills in Rajiv Bhawan on Saturday. These bills will kill the farmers of the district as the corporates will control the farmlands, said former MLA and member of the District Congress. He added, there will be no control over the price of the crops and will create a haphazard condition in the agricultural market, syphoning out the profits to the pockets of the rich.
