Dhubri admin warns against rumours

DHUBRI, June 13 - Keeping in view the recent Karbi Anglong incident, the district administration of Dhubri stated that it would act strong against those who spread rumours.

The administration through a release urged the people to inform the police against any such rumours and has made public the phone numbers of officers� in-charge of all the police stations of the district, including numbers of other important police officials. The administration also asked the people not to believe in any kind of rumours or be an agent in spreading any such rumours and inform the police regarding any message that can create instability in the society.

The DIPRO Dhubri, Bikash Sharma, said that the administration by using various publicity mechanisms is making the people aware of such rumours and taking steps towards curbing any incidents that can create any social issue.

In the release, Dhubri DC Anant Lal Gyani said that none of the rumourmongers would be spared and strong action would be taken against them.

However, demanding exemplary punishment for the culprits involved in the lynching incident in Karbi Anglong on June 8, the youths of Dhubri recently took out a candle light rally throughout Dhubri town. The youths of Dhubri also demanded immediate curbing of rumours. �With the upgradation of technology and internet, any kind of message gets spread like wild fire. And hate speech and rumours spread faster. And due to which we had to lose two of our brothers in Karbi Anglong,� said Kazi Mahmadul Hassan, representing the Dhubri youths.

Meanwhile, many organisations of the district, like Team Humanity, Dhubri and Friends Foundation, Dhubri, organised a sradhanjali programme in memory of the victims in the recent Karbi Anglong incident.
