DHUBRI, Aug 28 - The Dhubri district administration has geared up for the final NRC to be published on August 31. An emergency meeting was held under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Anant Lal Gyani which underscored the need to maintain a peaceful situation on the day. The meeting, which was attended by all concerned officers and the members of political parties, appealed to the people not to panic.
Meanwhile, the district administration has decided to deploy 13 additional companies of security forces to prevent any untoward incident in this regard.
The administration also urged the people not to fall prey to any rumours after the publication of the NRC . A Quick Response Team will also be deployed on the day to maintain the law-order-situation.
In the meeting, the Additional SP, Nirupam Hazarika who was also present, informed that regular police patrolling in the sensitive areas will be carried out with the help of VDPs.
It may be mentioned that the list will be available, in all the 136 NSKs of the district. The political parties, student wings and public organisations have been asked to help the administration in curbing rumours.
