MANGALDAI, Oct 23 - Dhiraj Rajbongshi of Kamrup (Rural) bagged the 1st Apul Deka Memorial All Assam Prize Money Body Building title here at the Gandhi Maidan on Saturday. The competition was organised by the Darrang District Body Building Association affiliated to the All Assam Body Building Association. Earlier, a district level contest was also organised where among 52 contestants in six different groups depending on weight categories, Biru Boro was adjudged as the champion. Family members of late Apul Deka , including his wife Amarjyoti Deka and son Rishi Raj Rai Deka gave away the prizes. Singer Zubin Garg and Mahadev Deka were also present during the occasion.
Earlier, a similar kind of event in memory of the same person was organised by Darrang District Physique Sports Association under the supervision of All Assam Physical Sports and Body Building Association at the District Library auditorium here on December 10, 2015 which was equally attended by the family members.
